With only a terminal access, you cannot easily filter security updates from the list of whole package updates available in your ubuntu server. In Ubuntu, the package “unattended-upgrades” allow us to install only security updates. This package filter only security updates from the complete list of upgrade packages available. You have to install unattended-upgrades package first then use it for installing security updates only.
Install ‘unattended-upgrades’ package
[email protected]:~$ sudo apt-get install unattended-upgrades

Now install the updates. Below command will install the security updates in your Ubuntu machine.
[email protected]:~$ sudo unattended-upgrades -v

-h, –help show this help message and exit
-d, –debug print debug messages
–apt-debug make apt/libapt print verbose debug messages
-v, –verbose print info messages
–dry-run Simulation, download but do not install
